P150 daily wage hike pushed

Labor groups have vowed to keep pushing for a legislated P150 wage hike nationwide amid the rising cost of living, even if President Marcos did not mention wage increase in his State of the Nation Address on Monday.

“President Marcos bragged about solving the inflation problem as his main accomplishment but the reality of high prices of basic goods and services remains,” said Sonny Matula, chair of the Nagkaisa labor coalition.

Factoring inflation, Matula said the real value of the P610 new daily minimum wage in Metro Manila effective July 16 from the previous P570 daily minimum rate was still P515. INQ
