MANILA, Philippines — Flooding would likely hit low-lying areas of Western Visayas due to the combined effects of southwest monsoon or “habagat” and Super Typhoon Egay (international name: Doksuri), which continues to move northwestward over the Philippine Sea, the state weather bureau said on Tuesday.

In its 5 p.m. weather bulletin, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) placed low-lying areas in Western Visayas under the “orange” and “yellow” warnings, expecting rainfall amounts ranging from 15 millimeters (mm) to 30 mm and 7.5 mm to 15 mm, respectively.

Meanwhile, Pagasa said that Egay continues to threaten provinces in Northern Luzon as it maintains strength. The super typhoon was last monitored 190 kilometers (km) East of Aparri, Cagayan moving 20 kilometers per hour (kph).

The state meteorologists said Egay was packing maximum sustained winds of 185 kph and gustiness of up to 230 kph.

Due to its effects, Camiguin, one of the five big islands of Babuyan, remains under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 5, while TCWS No. 4 stays over the northeastern part of mainland Cagayan (Santa Ana and Gonzaga), and the rest of Babuyan Islands – Babuyan Island, Calayan Island, Fuga Island, and Dalupiri Island.

Other provinces under wind signals were as follows:

TCWS No. 3
