MANILA, Philippines — Senator Pia Cayetano expressed her excitement over Philippines’ landmark triumph in Fifa Women’s World Cup on Tuesday in Wellington, New Zealand.
“The joy and pride we feel right now at the Wellington Regional Stadium are beyond words!” the senator exclaimed in delight.
“With each heart-pounding second that passed, we awaited this historic victory!” she narrated.
“Our very first win in the World Cup,” Cayetano emphasized.
The lawmaker watched as the team defied the odds in the tournament.
She described the moment as a testament to what Filipinos can do “when supported and given the opportunity to excel.”
Cayetano was absent at the opening of the second regular session of the 19th Congress on Monday because she is in New Zealand, accompanying the Philippine delegation to the games.
