MANILA, Philippines — The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Tuesday morning that Super Typhoon Egay and the southwest monsoon have now affected 16,888 people in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
The NDRRMC said that the majority of them are from Western Visayas at 16,252 and then Northern Mindanao (177); Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon or collectively known as Calabarzon (144); Bicol Region (51); and Ilocos Region (10).
It also said that of the total, 100 people are staying in evacuation centers so far in Bicol Region (51); Calabarzon (30); Ilocos Region (10); and Western Visayas (9).

Damage to infrastructure, meanwhile, was pegged at P1.5 million, the NDRRMC noted. The agency has not yet received reports from the ground regarding agricultural damage due to Super Typhoon Egay and the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat.
Egay intensified into a super typhoon on Tuesday morning, packing maximum sustained winds of 185 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 230 kph, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
