Marcos: 1.8 million families nationwide benefit from Kadiwa stores

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. reported 1.8 million Filipino families have benefited from 7,000 Kadiwa stores nationwide.

During his second State of the Nation Address at the Batasang Pambansa, Marcos said the Department of Agriculture (DA) program has helped lower the prices of agricultural products and commodities.

“Sa mga nakalipas na buwan, nakita natin ang pagbaba ng presyo ng bilihin sa iba’t ibang sektor. Napatunayan natin kayang ibaba ang presyo ng mga bigas, karne, isda, gulay, at asukal. Malaking tulong ang Kadiwa store na ating muling binuhay at inilunsad,” he noted.

“Mahigit na 7,000 Kadiwa na idinaos sa buong Pilipinas, kung saan mahigit 1.8 milyon na pamilya ang nakinabang sa mababang presyo ng bilihin. Ang kabuuan, halos 700 milyon ang naging benta ng mga ito na nakapagbigay ng hanapbuhay sa mga miyembro ng mahigit 3,000 na kooperatiba at samahan,” he said.

(More than 7,000 Kadiwa were formed all over the Philippines, where more than 1.8 million families benefited from the low prices of goods. Overall, almost 700 million worth of commodities were sold, giving employment to the members of more than 3,000 cooperatives and organizations.)

Marcos also his administration has already coordinated with other government agencies to strengthen the program’s implementation, in line with his goal to boost local agricultural production.
