ANDY VILLAMOR and Jerry Catacutan ruled the classified doubles category of the ongoing M. Lhuillier-Cebu City Mayor’s Cup at the Yayoy’s Grill, this city.
Villamor, from the team “The One” of Cagayan de Oro City, and Catacutan of Baes City defeated the pair of Manolo Balucan of Dipolog and Marlon Cultura of Butuan, 4-2, to win the crown and the P16,000 cash prize.
Cris Bayo of Bukidnon and Edward Santos of Tata Amboy team settled for third place while Ryan Condat of team Bulabog and Jomar Amirol of the Cebu City Hall Employees Darts Association (CHEDA) placed fourth.
Meanwhile, the tournament’s top contender Ian Perez of Koronadal City leads the cast of participants in the singles open.
Last year, Perez was not able to join the tournament due to personal concerns.
The 30-year-old Perez won this prestigious tournament in 2010 before heading to London to campaign for the Philippines in the World Championships. Perez is the only Filipino who won the World Championships twice. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
