In a statement, Aguilar said this was done “to assist commuters who may be affected by the transport strike on July 24 and the following days.”

Aguilar also said the deployment is also part of the AFP’s efforts to help ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s second State of the Nation Address.

Several transport groups staged a strike from July 24 (Monday) until July 26 (Wednesday) to protest the government’s Public Utility Vehicle modernization program.

Marcos ordered the suspension of work in government offices and classes in public schools at all levels in Metro Manila on Monday.
