MANILA, Philippines — A Chinese ship master, who suffered a heart attack while on a bulk carrier near the La Union waters, died in a hospital over the weekend, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported on Monday.
PCG on Sunday conducted a medical evacuation of the unidentified Chinese officer on board MV Guo Hai Lian 98.
“According to the crew, the Chinese national master experienced symptoms of myocardial infarction,” PCG said in a statement.
“Upon arrival, the medical evacuation team conducted cardiopulmonary resuscitation and disembarked the patient,” it added.
The person was then brought to La Union Medical Diagnostic Center and Hospital in Barangay Catbangen in San Fernando City.
He was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
