MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will temporarily lift the expanded number coding scheme on Monday in line with the State of the Nation Address (Sona) of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

In an advisory posted on Saturday evening, the MMDA announced the suspension scheduled on July 24.

Earlier, the agency advised drivers to take alternative routes to avoid heavy traffic flow along Commonwealth Avenue and around the Batasang Pambansa Complex, where Marcos’ second Sona will be held.

Motorists from Quezon Memorial Circle to Fairview (Northbound) were advised to take the North Avenue road, right turn at Mindanao Avenue, then right turn to Sauyo Road or Quirino Highway to reach the destination.

Meanwhile, drivers coming from Fairview to Quezon Memorial Circle (Southbound) were encouraged to take Sauyo Road or Quirino Highway, turn left at Mindanao Avenue, then turn left at North Avenue to reach the destination.
