DOH: 107 COVID-19 Omicron subvariant cases in W. Visayas, Davao Region, CAR

MANILA, Philippines — A total of 107 COVID-19 Omicron subvariant cases were recorded in Western Visayas, Davao Region and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) on July 11 to 12, according to the Department of Health (DOH).

Based on the DOH’s latest biosurveillance report, 83 of these infections were recorded in Western Visayas alone.

Of the 83, 36 belonged to the XBB.1.16 subvariant, three cases were XBB.1.5, 11 infections were XBB.1.9.1, nine cases XBB1.9.2, 17 XBB.2.3 and three tagged as “other XBB sublineages.”

Meanwhile, four belonged to the BA.2.3.20 subvariant.

Of the 12 infections recorded in the Davao Region, one was of the BA.2.3.20 subvariant, one XBB.1.5, two XBB.1.16, two XBB.1.9.1, one XBB.2.3 and three tagged as “other XBB sublineages.”

Twelve Omicron cases were also recorded in CAR, six of which belonged to the XBB.1.16 subvariant, one XBB.1.9.1, two XBB.2.3 and three tagged as “other XBB sublineages.

Among the recorded infections, the XBB omicron subvariant remained the most prevalent, accounting for 87.18 percent of all the cases.

As of July 20, the country currently has a COVID-19 caseload of 4,170,829, with 5,431 active infections, 4,098,863 recoveries and 66,535 deaths.
