MANILA, Philippines — Flood advisories were issued by the state weather bureau on Thursday morning, reiterating that river systems and water channels in parts of Bicol, Visayas, and Mindanao may still be affected by the rain showers brought by the low pressure area (LPA) south of the archipelago.

Pagasa, at 6 a.m. on Thursday, said following are the water courses likely to be affected by rain showers brought by the LPA:

Bicol Region

Based on Pagasa’s 12-hour forecast rainfall, light to occasional moderate rain showers and thunderstorms may affect the Bicol Region.

Western Visayas

Similar to the forecast in Bicol Region, the state weather bureau said light to moderate rains may also prevail in Western Visayas.

Eastern Visayas

Residents of Eastern Visayas were advised to brace for moderate to occasionally heavy downpour within the next 12 hours.

Caraga

Light to moderate rains and thunderstorms may affect Caraga on Thursday, said Pagasa. Meanwhile, the state weather bureau warned dwellers near the aforementioned water courses to remain vigilant against rain-induced hazards.

“People living near the mountain slopes and in the low-lying areas of the above-mentioned rivers systems are still advised to take necessary precautionary measures,” it reiterated.

The LPA being monitored by Pagasa was last observed 650 kilometers east-northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur or 715 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte.
