FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija – A ranking leader of the New People’s Army facing charges of robbery and four others were arrested by joint security forces in Negros Occidental Friday night, a military spokesman said Saturday.
The captured rebels, including Hernando Llorente (alias Adoy), the Commander of the Negros Northern Front of the NPA, were brought to San Carlos City police station, said Major Enrico Ileto of the 3rd Infantry Division.
The other rebels were identified by local officials of Guadalupe village, San Carlos City as those conducting activities in support of the NPA. Llorente was with his wife alias Bea during the apprehension. “Bea” was a known political instructor of the NPA, Ileto added.
Documents with high intelligence value were found during their arrest, he also said.
Appropriate charges are now being readied by the 62nd Infantry Battalion and the Philippine National Police on the apprehended NPA members. Llorente also has a standing warrant of arrest for robbery in a local court.
