MANILA, Philippines — Fair weather with chances of rain showers will prevail in most parts of the country due to southwest monsoon or “habagat,” while the low-pressure area east of northeastern Mindanao, which is expected to become a tropical cyclone within 24 hours, continues to affect parts of Mindanao and Eastern Visayas, according to the state weather bureau.

Citing its 3 p.m. Tuesday bulletin, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the LPA was last monitored 845 kilometers east of northeastern Mindanao and is currently inside the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).

(These weather systems will bring overcast skies, scattered rain showers, and thunderstorms in Mindanao and eastern portions of Visayas.)

(Here in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, as well as Western and Central Visayas, we will experience improved weather or fewer rain showers due to habagat.)

Galicia likewise said that Pagasa hoisted a gale warning in the coastal waters of Zambales and Bataan due to the effects of habagat.
