Siblings nabbed for illegal guns in Batangas
LUCENA CITY – Two brothers aboard a motorcycle were arrested on Monday night for carrying illegal firearms after a brief chase by policemen in Lipa City, Batangas.
The Batangas police said in a report on Tuesday, July 18, that cops on a routine anti-criminality inspection in Barangay Marauoy flagged down around 10:45 p.m. Ralph Laurence Atienza, 19, and his brother, Renz Mico, 20, as back-rider, for not wearing crash helmets.
Wearing protective headgear for motorcyclist riders is mandated under the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009.
The riders, both residents of Marauoy, disregarded the cops ordering them to stop and sped off, prompting a chase that ended with the suspects being cornered.
During the routine frisking, the police discovered that each rider was carrying a caliber .45 pistol loaded with bullets in their respective sling bags.
