Robbery suspects flee to Negros

THE robbers who took away P360,000 from a forwarding firm in Mandaue City last Wednesday may have left Cebu.

But the police still warned commercial establishments to remain vigilant as the group may strike again anytime.

They are also appealing for public cooperation in the resolution of the case.

Chief Insp. Michael Anthony Bastes, Investigation and Detective Management Branch (IDMB) chief of the Mandaue City Police Office, said they received intelligence reports that the suspects have escaped to the Negros Island through Balamban town.

MCPO Director Senior Supt. Noel Gillamac said the robbery is led by a former soldier named Reynante Paracuelles.

The other suspect has been identified as Claudio Castillo.

The police already sent the footage of the closed-circuit television (CCTV) of APL Logistics to Manila Police and to Mindanao for the identification of the three other robbers.

Gillamac said IDMB is preparing the affidavits of the complainant and witness for the filing of a case against the suspects.

Last Wednesday five armed men posed as customers of APL Logistics, an international freight and cargo forwarding company in barangay Looc, Mandaue City.

They robbed the firm of about P360,000 in cash proceeds and personal valuables of the employees. The firm is just a block away from the Mandaue police precinct headquarters.

Gillamac said the two suspects are remnants of the Ozamis robbery group led by Junjun Cabando who was responsible in the Robinsons mall robbery last year.
