NO POLITICAL TALK FOR LUIGI YET

It’s flood control first before any talk of 2013 politics for Rep. Gabriel Luis Quisumbing of Cebu’s 6th district.

“We have been busy turning over projects these past few weeks because the rainy season is coming. I am more concerned with flooding and the state of our national road network in the district,” Quisumbing said.

He sidestepped questions about reports that he may be joining the Liberal Party of the administration.

Quisumbing yesterday turned over to Subangdaku Phase 2 of the repair and rehabilitation project of M. Logarta road, which is funded by a P4 million outlay from the congressman’s Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).

Quisumbing left many guessing about his political plans when Mandaue City Vice Mayor Glen Bercede said earlier this week that Quisumbing is leaving the One Cebu party of Gov. Gwen Garcia and joining LP.

This was denied by Rep. Pablo John Garcia of Cebu’s 3rd district who said Quisumbing is staying with One Cebu.

Asked about his closeness with Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes, an LP stalwart, Quisumbing said that he and Cortes have been working together to address needs of their constituents./Correspondent Norman V. Mendoza

OUANO NOT RUNNING FOR VICE GOV

“It’s purely rumors,” said Provincial Board member Thadeo Ouano about speculation that he would run for vice governor under One Cebu next year.

He said he doesn’t plan to seek higher office, but if Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia asks him to run “dakong dungog ug garbo na nato apan ato sang huna-hunaon,” (I would be honored, but I would have to think it over), said Ouano, who is a former three-term Mandaue City mayor.

Ouano said there were others qualified to run for the post like businessman Glenn Soco who unfortunately lost in the last elections

Ouano reaffirmed his alliance with Mayor Cortes when his daughter Emmarie “Lollypop” Ouano-Dizon joined the Liberal Party, which is headed in the city by Cortes.

He said he was confident Cortes will win reelection in 2013. “Kusog kaayong mo-wallop si Jonas (Cortes) (Jonas has a very strong wallop),” he said in jest./Correspondent Norman V. Mendoza
