Octa: COVID positivity rate decreases for 3 consecutive days, now at 5.6%

MANILA, Philippines — The COVID-19 positivity rate nationwide has continued to decrease for the last three days, dipping to 5.6 percent as of July 15, Octa Research fellow Guido David said.

Based on David’s Twitter posts, the rate decreased slightly from 5.9 percent on July 12, 5.8 percent on July 14, to 5.6 on July 15.

David said that cases monitored within the same period range from 280 to 300.

Citing the Department of Health’s (DOH) recent data, David reported that the country recorded 283 new coronavirus infections, including 56 cases in Metro Manila.

With these findings, David said the country might see 200 to 300 new COVID-19 cases on July 16.

David also reported that the Philippines recorded 4,169,644 cases with 5,879 active patients, 4,097,255 recoveries, and 66,510 deaths, according to DOH’s latest COVID-19 tracker.
