STC-A wins girls 15 title in BRO football
ST. Theresa’s College (STC) A prevailed over San Roque Football Club (SRFC) in a penalty shootout, 2-1, to clinch the inaugural girls 15 title of the 1st BRO National Football Festival yesterday at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
After the finals match ended scoreless, SRFC had a chance to score the first goal. But Carlene Librero’s attempt was saved by STC’s goalie Alyssa Monteclaro.
STC jubilated when Estela Bastes found the back of the net during her turn and their anticipation peaked when SRFC failed to score on its second attempt via Jhervenne Saladaga.
STC’s excitement was doused when Jhannah Gerobiese missed her attempt. The shootout was put back to square one at 1-all when SRFC goalkeeper Jessa Cuizon finally scored.
SRFC’s hopes were bolstered when Monteclaro faltered in her attempt. Karla Grengia had a chance to give SRFC the lead but her attempt failed.
Tara Musni sealed the win for STC when she found the back of the net on her turn.

In the other categories, Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) clinched two titles with its DB 2002-A prevailing over Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, 1-0, for the players 9 title and DBTC A also defeating the Magis Eagles, 1-0, via a penalty shootout for the boys 15 title.
The Central Visayas team, which is mostly manned by DBTC players, also ruled the boys 13 after edging San Carlos City FC, 1-0.
The Magis Eagles were able to stop DBTC from adding more titles after besting DB 5, 1-0, for the boys 11 title via a penalty shootout.
The players 7 title was won by the Lahug Elementary School, who edged San Roque Parish, 2-1, in the finals.
