MANILA, Philippines — Government agencies should resolve glitches in the OFW Pass app to make it “user-friendly” for overseas Filipino workers (OFW) who contribute billions to the country’s economy.

OFW Rep. Marissa Magsino urged the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to address the app’s reported bugs.

Magsino cited feedback from the OFW Pass app’s initial users, who complained of difficult log-ins, system bugs, and errors in field entries.

“Comments online voice concerns and disappointment by OFWs who feel let down by the challenging user interface of the application… While we appreciate the efforts made thus far, we must conduct a thorough review of the application in light of initial comments received,” Magsino said in a statement regarding the OFW Pass app.

She urged DMW and DICT to finetune and tweak the app to ensure it would be “more user-friendly” and “will align with the expectations of our OFWs.”

Migrant Workers Secretary Susan Ople said the app, which aims to streamline the application process for the Overseas Employment Certificate was still undergoing rigorous testing by the DICT before its formal launching.
