Robbery suspects face more charges

ADDITIONAL charges were filed in court against members of a Mindanao-based robbery group for the armored van heist at Robinsons Place in Cebu City last year.

Robbery with physical injuries charges were filed in court against Junjun Cabando, Dionisio Cabatingan and three unidentified men.

Bail was set at P200,000 each.

Robbery with homicide charges were previously filed against the five suspects.

Lewin Kaye Surig, a roving teller of Chinabank Cebu main branch, filed the complaint.

Surig was shot in the left thigh during the robbery.

He said a bag containing P1.2 million cash was forcibly taken from him while he was headed to a bank client at the ground floor of Robinsons Place.

Surig’s security escorts, Leofer Itac and Leo Odac, of the Puritan Security Agency, were shot dead by the robbers.

A passing mobile patrol car noticed the commotion, which led to a shootout with police.

PO1 Jay Catacutan and PO1 Roy Ceniza of the cebu City Mobile Patrol Group (MPG) were wounded in the exchange of gunfire.
