A FARMER was stabbed dead by his friend whom he advised to stop playing “cara y cruz” or hantak in barangay Langub, Argao town, southern Cebu.
Edgar Embudo died of stab wounds in the chest and left arm.
Embudo and the suspect Alejandro Albaracin were with neighbors celebrating the inauguration of their deep well last Thursday afternoon.
There was a hantak or coin toss game in the gathering.
Police said Embudo noticed that Albaracin was losing in the coin game and advised him to stop betting.
Albaracin took offense, drew a knife and attacked the victim, said PO2 Manuelito Abrenica of Argao police.
Embudo died minutes later after he was rushed to the Kintanar Memorial Hospital.
Responding police arrested Albaracin, who will be charged for murder on Monday./CORRESPONDENT GABRIEL C. BONJOC
