MANILA, Philippines — East Zone concessionaire Manila Water assured the public Friday there would not be daily disruptions in water supply in its service areas, citing only maintenance activities as potential interruptions.
This statement came from Manila Water spokesperson Jeric Sevilla, following the announcement from Maynilad Water Services Inc. that half a million households in their concessionaire area will experience service interruptions.
“Manila Water will not be implementing daily water interruptions,” Sevilla said during the Laging Handa Public Briefing.
However, there will still be water interruptions due to maintenance work such as leak repair and line maintenance.
“We won’t have everyday water interruptions. If we have water interruptions, it is not because of the allocation of 48 cubic meters per second but because of regular and preventive maintenance,” Sevilla said, referring to the National Water Resources Board’s allocation due to the declining water level in Angat Dam.
