MANILA, Philippines — The city of Taguig on Thursday suspended classes at all levels in the afternoon due to the continuous heavy rainfall brought by the combined effects of a low-pressure area and the southwest monsoon.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) also issued a yellow heavy rainfall warning in Metro Manila and surrounding provinces at 2:00 p.m.

“Based on the guidelines released by the Department of Education thru DepEd Order No. 37 Series of 2022, classes in all levels (public and private) in Taguig City are automatically suspended this afternoon, July 13, 2023,” the city’s public information office said in a statement.

In a weather forecast on Thursday morning, Pagasa said the LPA was last spotted 295 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon, and is unlikely to develop into a storm.

With the southwest monsoon, rain showers and thunderstorms were forecast in Metro Manila and several parts of the country.
