MANILA, Philippines — The shooting incident involving a photojournalist is now deemed a “case solved,” Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Brigadier General Nicholas Torre III announced on Thursday.

To recall, Remate Online photojournalist Rene Joshua Abiad and six of his relatives were shot by gunmen onboard a vehicle last June 29.

However, Torres said police cannot yet consider it a “case closed” since the manhunt operation on the alleged mastermind and other suspects is still ongoing.

“We consider it, by our definition ng aming PNP (Philippine National Police) standards … solved na ito. Pero (but) continuous pa din,” Torre said in a press briefing when asked about the developments on the incident.

(By our definition, we consider it through our PNP standards … this is solved.)

The QCPD is still conducting a manhunt for the mastermind, a former Barangay chairman in Pasay City, and six other suspects.

Torres said the manhunt for the remaining at-large is progressing well.

“Definitely, may leads sa lahat ng suspect,” he said.

(Definitely, all suspects have leads to their arrest.)

One of the suspects, identified as Eduardo Almario Legaspi II, alias “Bingbong,” was arrested last July 8, Torre previously said.
