Teen wounded, 150 families displaced in Quezon City fire
MANILA, Philippines—A teenager was wounded as about 150 families were displaced after fire struck a shantytown along Agham Road in Quezon City Friday afternoon, a fire official said.
The injured resident in the fire that started at 1:44 p.m. was identified as Kim Mauro, 17, who sustained first to second degree burns in his right arm, said Francisco Mabunga of the Quezon City fire bureau said.
He said around 60 houses were razed by the fire which could have been caused by an unattended candle in the house of Marcos Monterola at 131 Agham Road Sitio Belmonte Camiling Compound.
About P3 million-worth of properties was gutted by the fire that reached Task Force Alpha before it was put out at 3:30 p.m., he said.
