COVID-19 positivity rate in Metro Manila down to 4.9% — Octa

COVID-19 positivity rate in Metro Manila down to 4.9% — Octa

MANILA, Philippines — The COVID-19 positivity rate in the National Capital Region (NCR) has dipped to 4.9 percent as of July 1, Octa Research fellow David Guido said.

In a Twitter post on Sunday evening, David said the rate in Metro Manila decreased from 5 percent last June 30 to 4.9 percent on Sunday.

In Laguna and Rizal, the rates fell below 5 percent, while 12 other provinces also observed a decrease in their respective rates, he said.

The provinces are: Bataan now at 20.3 percent; Bulacan (5.5 percent); Cagayan (15.3 percent); Camarines Sur (14.5 percent); Cavite (6.6 percent); Isabela (29.4 percent); La Union (9.7 percent); Oriental Mindoro (5.3 percent); Pampanga (14.2 percent); Pangasinan (15.4 percent); Quezon (5.7 percent); and Zambales (6 percent).

Elsewhere, positivity rates increased in Batangas (5.6 percent), Benguet (15.4 percent), Palawan (13.3 percent), and Tarlac (15.5 percent).

Nationwide, the COVID-19 positivity rate dropped from 6.9 percent on July 1 to 6.7 percent on Sunday.

Based on the Department of Health’s (DOH) latest data, David said 423 new cases were logged nationwide, with 90 cases from NCR.

David said that given the latest DOH figures, July 3 could have 250 to 350 new COVID-19 cases.

As of July 2, the country’s total caseload is 4,165,400. Out of this number, 6,925 are active cases, 4,092,090 recoveries, and 66,484 deaths, according to DOH.
