DOLE distributes livelihood grant to people’s organizations

A TOTAL of P900,000 financial grant was distributed by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to eight people’s organizations under the Asenso Sixto livelihood program of Rep. Gabriel Luis “Luigi” Quisumbing of Cebu’s 6th district.

The distribution of the grant last Tuesday at the office of Quisumbing was attended by the lawmaker himself, DOLE-7 Regional Director lawyer Gloria Tango and representatives of the recipient groups from Mandaue City, Consolacion and Cordova towns in northern Cebu.

The beneficiaries from Consolacion town, namely the Tugbungan Empowerment and Rights received P80,004, Women for Empowerment and Economic Development of barangay Pitogo got P80,004 and Barangay Ibabao Women’s Association received P80,075.

In Cordova town, the Dapitan Women’s Organization of barangay Dapitan received P80,010.

In Mandaue, the Nagkahiusang Pundok sa Organisadong Kababayen-an of barangay Cabancalan received P126,530, the Sulong –Mandawehanong Kabus of barangay Maguikay got P175,000 and the Bakilid Tricycle Drivers Organization Inc. of barangay Bakilid, P146,460.

Quisumbing lauded newly installed Labor regional director Tango for her effort to help the constituents in his district through the livelihood grants. Quisumbing said he hoped that the grant would help improve the lives of his constituents. /CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
