Invest more, Lapu City’s top taxpayers urged
LAPU-LAPU City Mayor Paz Radaza is calling on the city”s top taxpayers to institutionalize private and public partnerships through corporate social responsibility programs that help address poverty.
“Invest in positive, economic and environmental values in your host communities. Just look around your surroundings. There is a lot that you can do to help,” the mayor said in a speech delivered on Taxpayers Night at the Shangri-la’s Mactan Resort and Spa in Lapu-Lapu City.
Radaza said while they previously awarded the top 10 taxpayers in the city, they expanded the list to 20 since Lapu-Lapu City is celebrating its 50th Charter Anniversary this year.
The mayor cited Shangri-la’s Mactan Resort and Spa for being this year’s top taxpayer, it’s fourth straight year.
Aside from paying taxes on time, Radaza urged the local business community to invest in livelihood, education and environmental programs.
With tourism as major revenue generator for Lapu-Lapu City, Radaza said the city’s business leaders should join the city government in forging a partnership with other stakeholders in promoting the city both in the country and abroad. Reporter Jucell Marie P. Cuyos
