‘The Detective’ a must-read for cops; no, it’s not comics
The Philippine National Police is requiring its estimated 7,200 investigators nationwide to “read and understand” the articles in the PNP newsletter, “The Detective.”
Launched last month, the quarterly highlights the accomplishments of the PNP investigation division. It can be downloaded from a government website, https://didm.pnp.gov.ph.
The directive was contained in a memo from Senior Supt. Robert Quenery, chief of the Regional Investigation and Detective Management unit of the National Capital Region Police Office.
It called on district directors and chiefs of police to “widely disseminate (the newsletter) down to the last PNP investigator” in their respective areas.
The required reading can keep them updated on “current investigative techniques” and “the best practices in investigation and detective management” which they could adopt, according to the memo.
“The Detective”—whose title seems to echo that of an iconic US comic book series—can also keep them abreast of the PNP’s partnerships with foreign counterparts and other key activities.
