‘Water is Life’ project of Army unit, NGO expands to corn
An agri-reforestation project of the Philippine Army’s Armor Division and the nongovernment organization Tarlac Heritage Foundation (THF) has expanded to corn-growing.
Called “Water is Life”, the project which is ongoing at the Armor Division’s base in Tarlac province, started as a reforestation campaign but branched out into growing food, too.
Vegetables, like water spinach, and crops like corn will be grown on the project site to meet some of the food needs of the division and the government’s Kadiwa stores, where basic goods are being sold at lower prices.
Water for Life is an initiative of the PA’s Armored Division, led by its commanding officer Maj. Gen. Facundo Palafox IV and Tarlac Heritage Foundation led by co-founder Isa Cojuangco Suntay.
