MANILA, Philippines — The low pressure area (LPA) and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will continue to cause cloudy skies with scattered rain in several parts of the country on Tuesday, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda said the LPA was last seen 260 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon.

“Nananatiling mababa ang tiyansa [ng LPA] na maging bagyo ngunit ngayong araw ay posible itong magdulot ng ulan sa silangang bahagi ng Luzon,” said Castañeda in a public weather forecast.

(The LPA remained less likely to develop into a tropical cyclone, but today it will bring rain in the eastern part of Luzon.)

Meanwhile, the ITCZ is still affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Due to the combined effects of the LPA and ITCZ, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected in MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and Quezon on Tuesday.

“Pag-iingat pa rin po sa ating mga kababayan sa posibilidad ng pagbaha at pagguho ng lupa,” said Castañeda.

(Our countrymen are still advised to be cautious against the possibility of flood and landslides.)

According to Castañeda, favorable weather conditions or partly cloudy to cloudy skies may be experienced in the rest of the country, including Metro Manila, but chances of intermittent rain are still not ruled out due to localized thunderstorms.

No gale warning is currently hoisted over the country’s seaboards. This means that fishermen are allowed and safe to sail.
