Quezon City map STORY: LPG tanker stuck under Edsa footbridge

MANILA, Philippines — An 18-wheeler tanker truck got stuck under the Edsa-Quezon Avenue footbridge early Saturday morning, which caused its cargo of liquefied petroleum gas to leak and for traffic to build up.

A report from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said the Rizal-bound vehicle used the service road to shorten travel time but got stuck instead at around 12:30 a.m. under the footbridge which has a vertical clearance of only 3.3 meters.

MMDA personnel, along with those from the Bureau of Fire Protection and the Quezon City government, doused the truck with water to prevent it from burning.

They also tried to deflate the tires of the truck but the tanker did not budge. The truck was finally removed around 5:54 a.m, according to the MMDA.
