DUBAI — Brian Poe-Llamanzares continued his “A Sustainable Future” international book tour here.

The event was held at the Capital Club in the heart of the Financial District of Dubai.

Poe-Llamanzares saw this as an opportunity to highlight the progress the country has been making in achieving iPoets sustainability goals and call on business owners and investors to consider being a part of the sustainable development in the Philippines.

Filipino-owned events company Joan Jardeleza, with the assistance of DILG Undersecretary Margarita Gutierrez and Consul General Renato Dueñas also graced the gathering.

Members of the Filipino business community, local media, and foreign investors met to discuss sustainable development in the Philippines.

In his speech, Poe-Llamanzares mentioned the significant increase in government funding for agriculture, the creation of the badly needed water management office by the DENR, and the government’s commitment to energy security.

He mentioned that he will work with Forbes 30 under 30 Sustainable PH founder Shawntel Neito to build a sustainability curriculum and pilot it through their Learn2Lead program.

“We are working on building a curriculum with all the material necessary to possibly help colleges and universities in the Philippines include sustainability programs into their list of course offerings,” he said.

Invest in the Philippines

Well received by the business community, Poe-Llamanzares invited business owners to invest in the Philippines, noting that now is the best time to try to enter the Philippine Market.

“We now find ourselves opening up to foreign relations and investments. In a post pandemic Philippines, we need your businesses and investments to help grow our country’s economy sustainably.”

Poe-Llamanzares thanked the organizers and committed to continuing his school tour in the Philippines with the help of FPJ Panday Bayanihan, FPJ Youth, and student councils across the country.

Their goal is to raise awareness about sustainable development. Poe-Llamanzares will be giving talks and donating books to students through his local “A Sustainable Future” book tour.

He has so far visited Columbia, Harvard, Fordham, Boston College, CEU, Lyceum, UDM and will be seeing more schools in the coming months.

In each school, he donates copies of his book and provides a brief overview of the current status of sustainability in the Philippines across multiple sectors.
