Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos urged local government units in the country anew to promote active transport, especially the use of bicycles to ease traffic congestion in urban areas.

Abalos, in a statement, on Thursday praised Iloilo City, Quezon City, and Mandaue City, as well as the cities of Pasig, Alaminos, Baguio, and Taguig, for already making this happen in their jurisdictions.

Abalos said the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) would continue to work closely with other government agencies to replicate the active transport project in other provinces, cities, and municipalities. —DEXTER CABALZA
