PHILIPPINE superflyweight champion Marvin Mabait (16W-0L-2D,10 KOs) of Zamboanga City expressed confidence of retaining his crown when he battles Marco Demecillo Singwangcha (15W-0L-1D, 11KOs) of the RWS Gym this Sunday at the Mactan Shrine in Lapu-Lapu City.
“This will be a great fight. We have different styles, I am a patient boxer, while he always goes forward,” Mabait told CDN. “I have prepared well and I have a good chance of beating him this time.”
Mabait and Demecillo faced each other as four round fighters last January 31, 2009 at the Cebu Coliseum and the fight ended in a majority draw.
“I was lucky I knocked him down the first time. I am not thinking of knocking him down again. But I have noticed that nothing has changed in his style since we first met,” Mabait added.
Demecillo uses the surname Singwangcha as homage to his sponsor, Thai boxing patron Naris Singwangcha. Last October, Demecillo stopped Louie Bantigue in nine rounds in Liloan, Cebu.
The undercards pit Fernando Ocon vs. Jay-R Estremos (10 rounds), Marlou Sandoval Singwangcha vs. Jonathan Ricablanca (8 rds), Jayson Redondo Singwangcha vs. Jayvee Alipio (8 rds), TI Yamagata Valero vs. Zaldy Aroa (8 rds), Rajah Renoel Pael vs. Joel Ventual (8 rds), Rodel Wenceslao vs. Sesustener Llanera Singwangcha (6 rds), Junior Salvador vs. Lyndel Radoc Singwangcha (6 rds), Ardie Boyosi vs. Junmar Sahay (4 rds) and Ranel Pasunting vs. Kenny Demecillo (4 rds). /Correspondent Rene Bonsubre
