CEBU CITY-BOUND VESSEL STALLED
A PASSENGER vessel bound for Cebu City was stalled in the waters off Tabogon, northern Cebu at dawn yesterday.
Police said M/V Lapu-Lapu Ferry 1, which came from Masbate, had at least 42 passengers. It encountered engine trouble around 4 a.m. yesterday.
At least 24 passengers opted to transfer to motorized bancas.
Police said the remaining passengers decided to stay in the vessel after they were informed that another vessel was on its way to bring them to Cebu City. CORRESPONDENT GABRIEL C. BONJOC
ISRAELI KILLING
Article continues after this advertisementPOLICE have recommended that a polygraph test be conducted on the staff of a Cebu City hotel where an Israeli national was found dead last June 14.
Article continues after this advertisementPolice said the test will help speed up the investigation in the killing of Max Efergan, whose body was found under his bed inside room 415 of Hallmark Hotel in downtown Cebu City.
Police said robbery could be the motive in the killing since cash and some of the belongings of the foreigner were missing.

SOLDIER INDICTED
THE Office of the Ombudsman has indicted an official of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) who allegedly failed to return government-owned items worth P10,084.
Capt. Ramilino Aspiras will be facing court trial on charges of malversation.
Bail was recommended at P 30,000.
Editha Dochos, supply accountable officer of the AFP Central Command, filed a complaint against Aspiras, who used to be assigned at the Office of the Area Command for Operations of the Visayas Command.
