QC, Mandaluyong fire victims receive gov’t aid

A total of 200,000 goods have been prepositioned by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in regions vulnerable to the Taal and Mayon volcanoes, which have been exhibiting “increasing unrest.”

MANILA, Philippines — The offices of Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez and Tingog party-list Reps. Yedda Marie K. Romualdez and Jude Acidre have facilitated the distribution of relief goods and release of P3.31 million financial aid to 331 families displaced by recent fires in Barangay Bagbag, Quezon City and Barangay Addition Hills in Mandaluyong City.

Romualdez said the financial assistance is under the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations Program (AICS).

“The financial aid is part of a government program given to distressed individuals. I hope this small amount from the DSWD can help ease the pain of the families who lost their homes to these fire incidents,” Romualdez said in a statement.

Romualdez said that 125 families from Mandaluyong City, and 206 from Quezon City each received P10,000.

The victims from Mandaluyong City are currently at the Tanglaw Covered Court in Block 19-A, while Quezon City victims are at the Remarville basketball court.
