PNP vows justice for 2 cops killed in Maguindanao del Sur ambush
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday vowed justice for the two police officers who were killed and the four others wounded in a Wednesday night ambush in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao del Sur.
The PNP said it would “do everything within its power and authority to serve the ends of justice” for the deaths of Patrolman Saipoden Shiek Macacuna and Patrolman Bryan Polayagan.
It likewise sought justice for the attempt on the lives of Patrolman Arjie Pabinguit, Patrolman Abdulgafor Alib, Police Staff Sergeant Benjie de los Reyes, and Police Chief Master Sergeant Rey Vincent Gertos.
“This inhumane act of the unidentified suspects while our personnel is conducting a routinary mobile patrol to ensure the safety and security of everybody is a loud call to the community that we should work hand-in-hand to eradicate this kind of criminal act,” PNP said in a statement.
“This case will not go unsolved. Punishment is certain for those responsible for this heinous crime,” the PNP added.

Article continues after this advertisementThe PNP likewise promised to extend all possible assistance to the grieving families of the two slain police officers and necessary medical attention to the wounded personnel.
According to the police report, the Maguindanao del Sur provincial mobile force company was “ambushed by unidentified armed men” on their way back to the provincial police office headquarters in Camp Datu Akilan after a routine mobile patrol.
