Duterte sees crown prince, education minister, and OFWs in Brunei
MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte met with the crown prince, the education minister, and some overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) during her visit to Brunei.
Duterte is in Brunei as part of her duties as president of the inter-governmental group Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization.

“Ikinararangal ko ang mainit na pagtanggap ka sa akin nitong araw ng Lunes ni His Royal Highness Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, ang Crown Prince ng Brunei Darussalam,” she said on a social media post.
(I am honored by the warm welcome this Monday given by His Royal Highness Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince of Brunei Darussalam.)
Article continues after this advertisement“Napag-usapan namin ang larangan ng sports at maging ang kontribusyon ng maraming mga Pilipino sa iba’t ibang mga industriya sa Brunei bilang mga masisipag na manggagawang Pilipino,” she added.

Duterte, the concurrent Secretary of Education, also met with Dr. Romaizah Mohd Salleh, the Minister of Education of Brunei.
“Ipinahayag natin ang ating paghanga sa integrasyon ng teknolohiya sa kanilang curriculum at sa mga innovation na ipinapatupad upang mapaniguro na ang mga mag-aaral ay may kakayahan at kasanayan sa pagbasa, pagsulat, at pakikipag-usap,” said Duterte.
(We expressed our admiration for integrating technology in their curriculum and the innovations implemented to ensure that students will have the ability and skills to read, write, and speak.)
The vice president also spoke with some OFWs, celebrating Philippine Independence Day with them.
“Ang selebrasyong ito ay isang pag-alala sa mga sakripisyo ng ating mga bayani upang makamit ang ating kasarinlan, kasabay ng ating pagbibigay diin sa pagkilala natin sa dedikasyon at sakripisyo ng mga OFWs para mabigyan ng magandang buhay ang ang kanilang mga pamilya sa Pilipinas,” the Vice President told her fellow Filipinos.
(This celebration is a remembrance of the sacrifices of our heroes so that we can achieve our independence, together with our recognition of the dedication of sacrifices of OFWs to give their families in the Philippines a better life.)
Duterte is also expected to travel to Singapore this month.
