The Cavite police reported that operatives were dispatched around 2:30 p.m. to Barangay Zapote 2, after receiving a report of a person carrying a firearm in the area.

When the police arrived at the place, the armed man identified as Eugene Palicpic fired at the police officers and hit Patrolman Mark Paolo Quizon on his chest and arm.
