Pasay village watchman killed in ambush

MANILA, Philippines – A village watchman was shot and killed by unidentified men in an ambush in Pasay City, a report from Radyo Inquirer 990AM said Tuesday.

The report said the fatality, Joseph Saria of Barangay (village) 88, Pasay City, was declared dead on arrival at the San Juan de Dios Hospital at 6:55 a.m. after sustaining gunshot wounds to his chest and abdomen.

Saria was driving his Kawasaki motorcycle with license plate 1233 TO along the narrow alley of Commandante Garcia Street in the village when the perpetrators shot him, the report said.

It also said that a certain Edith, who claimed to have seen the slaying, said the men, clad in black jackets and helmets, were on a motorcycle when they shot the village watchman. However, to her shock, she was quoted as saying that she failed to jot down the vehicle’s plate number.

Police have launched an investigation to track down the killers.
