9,107 COVID-19 infections logged from May 29 to June 4, 22% lower than previous week

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday said it recorded 9,107 COVID-19 infections from May 29 to June 4, which is once again lower than the previous week’s 11,667 cases.

Based on the DOH’s weekly released data, the infections translated to a daily average of 1,301 or 22 percent lower than the 1,667 recorded from May 22 to 28.

Seventy-seven infections, or 0.85 percent of the recorded cases, were tagged as critical or severe, with active critical or severe COVID-19 admissions currently at 559.

On the other hand, 10 deaths were added by the DOH during this period, three of which occurred in the past week.

Meanwhile, the utilization of ICU beds dipped from 21.8 to 18.9 percent, while the non-ICU bed utilization rate slightly decreased from 23.2 to 23 percent during the same period.

Based on the DOH’s online COVID-19 tracker as of June 4, the country’s total COVID-19 caseload is currently at 4,148,401, with 4,068,117 recoveries and 66,476 deaths.

Active cases, meanwhile, are currently at 13,808.
