LUCENA CITY — Three motorcycle riders died on Sunday, June 4, in separate collisions in Batangas province.
Motorcyclist Roy Pesigan, 24, was traveling along the national highway in Barangay Antipolo del Norte in Lipa City at 11:55 p.m. when he collided head-on with an oncoming Toyota pickup driven by Juanito Maturan, the Batangas police reported.
Pesigan was thrown off the vehicle, landed on the pavement, and suffered serious injuries. He died while being taken by rescuers to the Lipa City District Hospital.
Investigators said Maturan occupied the opposite lane, which resulted in the collision.
In Tuy town, rider Menecio Bituin, 58, crashed at 9 p.m. into a parked dump truck on the outer lane of the national road in Barangay Putol.
He suffered a serious head injury and was rushed to Don Manuel Lopez Memorial District Hospital for medical treatment, but was declared dead on arrival.
The police did not specify if the parked vehicle had a reflectorized or early warning device.
In Nasugbu town, Romelito Salanguit, 29, was traveling in Barangay Looc when he was hit at 5:40 p.m. by an oncoming van driven by Yulysses Pereira.
Salanguit suffered severe head injuries and died on the way to the nearest hospital.
Report said Pereira occupied the opposite lane as he overtook another vehicle, resulting in the collision.
Investigators found out that Salanguit had no driver’s license. They also found no government registration documents on the motorcycle. INQ
