MANILA, Philippines—A Marikina warehouse in Marikina was gutted in a two-hour-long fire on Monday before dawn, destroying property worth P200,000.

No one was reported hurt in the fire, which started 2:10 a.m. on Monday at the two-story building located at the corner of J.P. Rizal and P. de la Paz Streets in Barangay (village) Sta. Elena and owned by businesswoman Rosalina Honoras.

Senior Fire Officer 2 Noel Alarcon, investigator on case, said the fire started near the roll-up metal door of the building, which was padlocked when the fire broke out.

Reaching third alarm, the fire had spread to the adjacent three buildings housing commercial shops before firefighters managed to extinguish it.

“Breaking into the building took our time at first because the building was heavily padlocked,” he said.

All the plastics and styrofoam products stored inside the warehouse were turned into ashes.

Investigators of the Bureau of Fire Protection in Marikina were still trying to determine what could have sparked the fire.
