A suspect in killing of Oriental Mindoro radio broadcaster dead
MANILA, Philippines — One of the suspects in the killing of radio broadcaster Cresenciano Aldovino Bunduquin in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro, has died, the police said on Wednesday.
Bunduquin, a resident of Barangay Canubing 1, died early Wednesday after two unidentified men on a motorcycle shot him in front of a store he owned along C5 road in Barangay Santa Isabela, according to Oriental Mindoro Police Provincial Office (PPO).
One of the men approached Bunduquin area and shot him several times in different parts of his body before fleeing.
Bunduquin’s son chased them and accidentally bumped the assailants’ motorcycle.
Following the collision, one of the gunmen, identified as Narciso Ignacio Guntan, sustained head injuries and eventually died, while the other one escaped.
Article continues after this advertisementThe Oriental Mindoro PPO said its Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) “Bunduquin” would launch a follow-up operation to track down the other suspect.
Article continues after this advertisement“Follow-up operations and leads from the pieces of evidence gathered at the crime scene, members of the SITG have already identified a person of interest,” Oriental Mindoro PPO provincial director Police Col. Samuel Delorino said.
“We will update the public in any detail as to the development of the investigation. We guarantee to bring swift justice to the victim and his family,” he added.
Bunduquin was a co-host of the radio program “Balita at Talakayan,” which was aired over DWXR 101.7 FM and online radio MUX, which he owned.
