Occidental Mindoro suspends classes at all levels amid constant rain

Pagasa to remove wind signal warning as typhoon Betty steadily moves away from the Philippines

MANILA, Philippines — All local government units of Occidental Mindoro have suspended classes on Wednesday due to bad weather.

“As of 8:00 AM ngayong araw, Mayo 31, 2023, idineklara na rin ng lahat ng Local Government Unit sa ating probinsya ang kanselasyon ng pasok sa lahat ng antas ng paaralan  para sa kaligtasan ng mga mag-aaral sa iba’t ibang bayan sa ating lalawigan,” the Occidental Mindoro Public Information Office said in a Facebook post.

(As of 8:00 AM, May 31, 2023, all of the Local Government Units in our province canceled the classes for the safety of students in all towns of our province.)

As of 2:00 pm, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said light to moderate with occasional heavy rains are experienced in portions of Occidental Mindoro “which may continue for 2 to 3 hours.”

The southwest monsoon or habagat is affecting portions of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, according to Pagasa.
