MANILA, Philippines — “Don’t make it personal.”
Negros Oriental Rep. Arnolfo Teves Jr. had this to say to Speaker Martin Romualdez, even as Teves said he was “powerless” against those pushing for his expulsion from Congress.
“My message [to Romualdez] is, don’t make it personal. And they should remember, we’re all just humans. If they have dirt on me, they shouldn’t forget that I know many things [about them] too. I just don’t know how things will turn out if I reveal everything,” Teves said.
He made the remarks in an interview over CNN Philippines on Tuesday.
‘One-sided’
The Inquirer has reached out to Romualdez but he has yet to respond to a request for comment.
A day after the House ethics panel said it will recommend “stiffer disciplinary action” against him, Teves said the probe was “one-sided” and that the House “can’t impose anything” on him.
However, the embattled lawmaker — who was recently charged for the murder of Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo — appealed to his colleagues not to push too far.
He maintained that the hearing of the House ethics committee last Monday was unfair and one-sided since he was not allowed to participate through video conferencing.
