Supreme Court grants anew Maria Ressa’s bid to travel abroad
MANILA, Philippines – Supreme Court (SC) has allowed Rappler Chief Executive Officer Maria Ressa to travel abroad next month so she can attend several speaking engagements.
In a resolution dated May 29, 2023, SC’s first division granted Ressa’s motion to fly to Italy, Singapore, Taiwan and the United States from June 4 to 11, 2023 and June 19 to 29, 2023.
At the same time, SC required Ressa to post a P100,000 cash bond.
She was also told to observe the sub judice rule – to refrain from making any comment on or discussing in public her legal case and other related matters.
“Furthermore, petitioner is required to transmit to the Court an advice in writing of her return to the country within five days from her arrival,” the resolution stated.
