Colored smoke downs Bacolod students, school employees
BACOLOD CITY — At least 22 students and school personnel felt sick on Monday, May 28, after being exposed to a colored smoke used for special effects in a presentation at Bacolod City College.
Four students and two Public Order and Safety Office personnel were rushed to the hospital for treatment, according to Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office chief Anna Maria Laarni Pornan.
The students experienced chest pains while the two Public Order and Safety Office personnel, one of whom fainted, were immediately attended to by doctors.
Pornan said a team used colored smoke as part of their presentation in a Physical Education class.
“The place where the event was held was enclosed with no ventilation,” she said.
