MANILA, Philippines— The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is set to establish satellite offices in 21 SM Malls’ Government Service Express Centers to expand its services.

Welfare Secretary Rex Gatchalian and SM Supermalls president Steven Tan inked the memorandum of agreement (MOA), making their partnership on Friday at the launch of the DSWD’s improved sustainable livelihood program.

The MOA also lets DSWD use SM event places and spaces for free.

According to the department, this includes providing a venue for the welfare department’s operations, such as pre-positioning efforts for disaster response and facilitation of clearances and issuances.

SM has also agreed to allow the welfare authority to use its channels for information dissemination, said DSWD in a statement.

The MOA will take effect until July 2026.
